Product Description
Expanding on the sophisticated elegance of the current line, the new dv series is defined by fluid, modern lines and metalized finishes with surprising innovations inside and out. High-gloss hp Imprint finish in onyx and chrome now encases all surfaces visible during normal use for greater durability. The dv6 series Mesh Imprint features a grid-like pattern for subtle contrast to the liquid appearance of the metallic finish. The streamlined look is enhanced with a color-matched keyboard and touchpad. And touch media controls light up and become visible only when the system is powered on further enhancing the clean appearance and helping illuminate the 16:9 widescreen. This notebook has the Intel Core 2 Duo processor with 4GB of RAM that enables you to use multiple demanding applications, such as photo editing, DVD burning and playing a game, at the same time. Control content from up to 10 feet away with the hp Mobile Remote Control that can be stored in the ExpressCard slot for convenience. Store all your favorite digital memories such as movies and photos with the huge 320 GB Hard Drive, and get faster backups by connecting an external hard drive through the eSATA port. 16.0 diagonal (1366 x 768) BrightView Widescreen Display Built-in Webcam and Digital Microphone Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 4500MHD with up to 1759MB Shared Graphics Memory LightScribe SuperMulti 8x Double Layer DVD+-R/RW Drive 802.11a/b/g/n Wireless LAN Bluetooth 10/100 Base-T Ethernet LAN 5-in-1 Bridge Media Adapter - MMC, SD, MS, MS Pro, xD ExpressCard 54/34 Slot Connections - 3 x USB 2.0, USB2.0/eSATA, 2 x Headphone out; Microphone-in, VGA, HDMI, RJ-11 (Modem), RJ-45 Approximate Unit Dimensions - 14.9 (W) x 10.15 (D) x 1.65 (H) Approximate Unit Weight - 6.93 PoundsThis is a pretty nice computer, but the 60 day free trial of Norton didn't work the second day I had it. I would get rid of it and put in a new anti viral program, but unfortunately my computer tells me not to or it will crash the system. Yeah for me. This one is nicer than my Dell though because after having my Dell for less than one year the mother board crashed and had to be replaced. Overall, I guess I will see what happens.
Well, I have to say that this is the best laptop of many, is smooth, fast, everything works awesome, there's bluetooth, camera, control, everything as described, the design is beautiful, and the touch controls are too... is a perfect laptop for college students like me! I just have to say that is the best,
This machine's specs sounded excellent, so I made the (somewhat foolish) assumption that this highly-rated model would suit my needs. WRONG. I've owned this thing less than a day and it's already going back to Amazon! The integrated graphics chipset runs into serious 3d rendering errors with Matlab. It barely runs World of Warcraft -- a 4.5-year-old game. This machine might be OK if a user never needed video performance, but the graphics chipset is a botched abortion that renders it useless. Your options are to wait for Windows 7 (and hopefully better video drivers); install Linux and spend a few weeks reconfiguring it; or just request an RMA number. 3 guesses which one I chose.
I fell in love with this machine the instant I saw its specs and looks in Amazon... I got it delivered and the first problem I had was that the computer was described as having an internal bluetooth antenna, which after searching how to start it for half and hour and chatting with HP I realized it was not there! I got a discount from Amazon for this "mistake" which seems to happen quite frequently (I had the same problem with a Toshiba Satellite I purchased a while ago). The 64bit Vista is rather problematic than helpful. I am considering either upgrading to Ultimate or downgrade to 32bit. Although its processor is ranked as "genious" and it brings 4gb of ram I have runned tests with my old Toshiba running 32 bit Vista with a slower processor and with half the ram and time after time my new HP gets beaten!!!!!!!!!!!! I experience so many software related problems I cannot feel satisfied a single day about my purchase! The speakers and volume control give so many problems as well: I place the laptop in "mute" and still I get a fraction of a second of the beep of the instant messenger I use; the speakers are always making this noise like the power was just turned on; the volume control is non-responsive and then when it finally answers my command, it gets stuck both visually and audible. I still doubt that this machine can be expanded up to 8gb of ram as the specs in Amazon advertise, but I have not checked this yet. I guess I will get further disappointed... It's a shame that I feel this way for a laptop I found so captivating and (thought) powerful... Now I bought an xb3000 expansion base (which is advertised as the compatible one for the dv6) and I found myself with the obligation to purchase a new A/C adapter since the laptop AC should work with the base but guess what? the dv6 AC is too big for the base!!! So there you can add $50 extra if you decide to get the whole bunch. Bottom line: You can get the same performance with a cheaper, more convenient model and save yourself a lot of hassle... Sad but true!
This laptop if fully loaded with all the hardware/software that you could possibly find in laptops. Yet in the discription it says (Built-in Bluetooth) but it does not have bluetooth. I took it to HP workshop and they told me it does have Bluetooth. I have no idea why they write such misleading information in the specs.
Although I'm thrilled with performance of this laptop. I'm still kinda bumped out !!!
it's very good laptop everyting I wanted in a laptop I found it in this one. I can play games , and work on it with high speed
The product is really worth buying. Very good configuration and stylish. The only drawback is the touchpad is not so smooth. If u get practiced it will be OK. Other than that it is a very good laptop.
I was concerned about being able to set up by myself. It arrived and within 15 minutes I was on line. I have only had the computer a few weeks but I am very satisfied so far.
I have had this laptop for about a month. It is my 3rd HP computer. The first one is still running and has been passed down to my kids. I intended to purchase a desktop but at $599 I could not find one with similar specs for a better price. It is super fast even with several applications running. The numeric keypad is a must and many laptops do not have this feature. I use lightscribe regularly and would miss it if I switched manufacturers. The battery does barely last 2 hours but this is probably due to the larger than average screen. Love it, would buy again.
WHAT A LETDOWN!!!! I had it up and running for TWO days and the motherboard has failed. No reason for this, I have AVG as a security program, and have run that in my desktop for three years without a problem. Let me tell you about their Customer Service. Rude, not at all helpful, and spent almost the enitre conversation telling me what the COULD NOT do.
DO NOT BUY this product. I saw the negative review and chose to go with HP's solid rep. Well, it isn't the company it used to be, they are a real disaapointment. Now, I get to ship it all the way across the country for them to repair my BRAND NEW computer. This totally disgusted me and I will tell everyone I know to no longer support HP. They have gone the way of all of the other "big" companies, turning out junk and getting top dollar for it, and not supporting their product well. A BIG ZERO!
